Christopher Dunn is a comedian, actor, singer, and improviser from St. John’s Newfoundland. He is the Artistic Director of Night Out Productions, which showcases top tier local and international comedic talent.
He studies voice under Meghan Herder and has performed musical theatre and opera for the past 3 years. He recently completed the six week Opera/Musical Theatre Intensive at Opera NUOVA in Edmonton, Alberta. There he performed as Tesman in a scene study of Ibsen’s “Hedda Gabbler”; Gunman 2 in “Kiss Me Kate” in concert; Drunken Poet/Chorus in Purcell’s “The Fairy Queen”; King Theseus in Britten’s “Midsummer Night’s Dream”; and Major Holmes in “The Secret Garden.”
Recent performances with Opera on the Avalon include Jonas Fogg in Sweeney Todd; Herr Zeller in The Sound of Music; Guard 2 in Dead Man Walking, along with The Steward/Milky White in Into The Woods.
Recent performances in other companies in St. John’s include Chorus in TaDa’s Jesus Christ Superstar, Mr Butler, Rolf, Jack and Mr Smythe in Berni Stapleton’s Brazil Square, and Clayton in Peter MacDonald Production’s Tarzan.
When he is not singing he can found at any local comedy show performing stand up. He recently won Runner Up at James Mullinger’s Comedy Bootcamp. He also performs improv with Stanley Braxton, one of St. John’s’ longest-standing improv troupes. He co-runs an annual Comedy Festival of the same name.
