Acadian tenor Jacques Arsenault began his musical career as a virtuoso accordionist while growing up on Prince Edward Island before discovering his vocal talents. Since receiving his Master of Music from University of Alberta, Jacques has performed with Calgary Opera in the Village, Edmonton Opera and Opera Nuova.
Jacques starred as Freddy, “an impressive combination of powerful singing, solid accordion chops” in Tapestry Opera’s “Bandits in the Valley”, and in 2017 portrayed Ambroise Lepine in the Canadian Opera Company and National Arts Centre’s acclaimed co-production of Harry Somers’ Louis Riel.
Jacques performed classic French songs at Indian River Festival with Marjorie Maltais in their cabaret accordion/singing duo, French Squeeze. This season, Jacques debuts as Basilio in Against the Grain Theatre’s production of “Figaro’s Wedding” in Toronto.
