Marie saw Phantom of The Opera, with Michael Crawford, Steve Barton and Sarah Brightman, when it first opened in West End London 1988. It was one of the shows that fueled her love of musical theatre.
While Marie hails from England she is now firmly rooted in NL. She is a graduate of The London College of Dance, Professional Program, and has been teaching and choreographing in the Province for nearly 30 years. Marie is owner and Artistic Director of Steffen Dance Studio. During her career Marie has taught thousands of students, many having gone into the profession and even more having found a lifelong love of dance and the performing arts.
Marie is also a well-known choreographer and is fortunate in having worked with most theatre companies in NL. She is delighted to be working with Opera On The Avalon for her first time. Some of her most memorable shows include “Cats” and “Chicago” with TaDa Events, “Little Mermaid” with Theatre St. John’s, “Sister Act” and “Billy Elliot” with Atlantic Light Theatre. She is certain that “Phantom” will join her list of favourites! Next up for Marie is Atlantic Light’s production of “9 to 5” taking to the stage in late January 2020.
She would like to send a big shout out to her own backstage crew – Martin, Max and Freya.
